YOUTUBE VIDEO SIZE: THE COMPLETE GUIDE

The length of your video may not seem like much of an issue, but there are very good reasons to get it just right. For starters, if you’re hoping to become a full-time YouTuber, having the right video size will make it easier for people to find you when they search YouTube and Google,

which means more views and subscribers over time. If you don’t care about that though, or are only interested in occasional uploads, the right video size will also help to ensure you don’t get in trouble with YouTube because your videos are too long or too short.

Square Videos

1) Upload your video with the correct aspect ratio and frame size in the first place. 2) Create a square thumbnail for YouTube. 3) Fill out all of your video metadata like titles, descriptions, tags, subtitles, etc., to maximize visibility on YouTube’s search engine results page (SERP). 4) Optimize your title to entice people to watch by using phrases like watch this before you go out tonight or the funniest videos you will see today. 5) Add annotations to link viewers back to your website for more information about the video or any products that are featured in it.

6) Get backlinks from other websites so that Google sees your video as an authoritative source of content about that topic and ranks it higher than others. 7) Promote the video on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and other social media sites to reach a wider audience. 8) Drive traffic from one of these social media sites with ads targeting those specific users.

Vertical Videos

Vertical video is a type of video shot in portrait orientation, either vertically or horizontally. Vertical videos are popular for mobile phone viewing and for use with social media platforms such as Snapchat and Instagram. In order to shoot a vertical video on an iPhone, you must rotate the device to the left or right side (landscape).
To film a vertical video on an Android device, you will need to rotate your camera around 90 degrees so that it's pointing up instead of down.

Horizontal Videos

If you want to share a video on your social media or website, it may not be in the right size. How do you know what size is right for your video? A video with a width of 640px or less can be viewed in full-screen mode on most platforms and devices.

Videos wider than 640px will not automatically fill the entire width of the screen. Videos that are taller than 480px may have black bars at the top and bottom of the screen when played in full-screen mode.

Full HD Resolution

1. Create a new video on Youtube and click upload.
2. Click the edit button in the lower right-hand corner of your video, next to where it says show more.
3. When you scroll down, you'll see a box titled video options. Click playback resolution.
4. Choose 1080p as the playback resolution for your video--this will give you Full HD quality.
5. Hit okay and then save and publish your video! 6. If you're uploading multiple videos at once, make sure that they all have the same playback resolution or they won't play together properly.
7. Once your videos are live, use this tool to quickly check which one is playing back at 1080p and adjust accordingly if necessary.
8. Once published, your settings can't be changed again unless you delete or re-upload the video--so choose wisely!

File Format

YouTube videos come in a variety of sizes and formats, but what does that mean for you? This guide will help you convert your video to the right size for YouTube as well as other video-sharing sites like Vimeo or Facebook. When uploading to Youtube, ensure that you are uploading with an .mp4 file format and set it to 1280 x 720 pixels at 30fps.

Other common file types include mp3s (.mp3) and m4as (.m4a). MP3 files should be 16bit 44.1 kHz mono and have an average bitrate of 256kbps to 320kbps. M4A files should be either 44.1 kHz 16bit stereo or 48kHz 24bit stereo with an average bitrate of 128kbps - 192kbps. Mp3s should not be encoded from any source higher than 192 kbps because they lose quality after that point while M4A files can still maintain sound quality up until 192 kbps without loss of quality
